Orthotics Surrey

About Orthotics – Surrey Chiropractic Care & Massage Therapy

Foot care is one of the fastest growing, yet most neglected, areas of healthcare today. The incidence of foot problems increases with age, making this issue timely and important. Orthotics are custom-made shoe inserts designed to support and correct improper movement of your feet. When you have correct foot biomechanics there is stress taken off the feet, ankles, knees, hips and low back. Our Orthotics are custom made specifically for your feet and to fit your particular needs.

We use the Industry Leader in computerized dynamic scanning and pressure mapping. The Gaitscan system by the Orthotics Group is an innovative diagnostics tool and digital casting device that allows practitioners to analyze patients biomechanics with 4096 sensors and a scan rate of 300 frames per second. It scans the surface of the foot in motion. It records timing sequences during gait and captures the relative pressure  to each of 10 distinct anatomical landmarks. The result is the detection of imbalances and other indicators of lower limb pathologies. Some insurance companies do however require a physical cast be taken of your foot as well and we are able to provide this along with a scan.

How  ?

When you think of orthotic therapy, you might think Plaster cast molding. And you would be correct. But orthotic therapy (custom inserts worn in shoes)  is in the midst of a major technological advancement. With the Gaitscan  system, a computerized gait and pressure analysis system is an innovative diagnostic tool that analyzes foot function when the patient walks and stands on a mat connected to the computer system. The result is a computerized gait analysis report that provides a thorough clinical assessment for your custom orthotics  – literally within minutes.
